Embodying its festive spirit is Mardi Gras, the late-winter carnival famed for raucous costumed parades and street parties.
Our Approach
Progreso (Merida), Mexico
Progreso (Merida), Mexico, this beach paradise is simply 20 minutes from downtown Merida, a straight drive or a simple bus ride to the downtown area and just a 3 minute walk from the beach. You can take a boat trip on the "ria" and admire hundreds of flamingos and up to 320 species of birds.
From Progreso go see Chichén Itzá is a world-famous complex of Mayan ruins on Mexico's Yucatán Peninsula. A massive step pyramid known as El Castillo dominates the 6.5-sq.-km. ancient city, which thrived from around 600 A.D. to the 1200s. (2 hr bus ride - map)
Or see the Dzibilchaltún Mayan ruins which is only 30 minutes from the port. As mayan ruins go this one is not necessarily the most amazing, however it is unique in some of its architecture, has a great museum attached and even more great is an onsight cenote that you can swim in right at the base of a pyramid (map).

You would rather commence your cruise stress-free.
Imagine the feeling of missing a train or a flight let alone your seven-day cruise vacation. Even if you don't hit traffic, flight delays or a plague of other travel complications, watching the clock until you step foot on the gangway is not a relaxing way to kick off your trip.
